e-Visa stands for electronic visa. It is an official travel authorization that people apply for online. An e-Visa, like a regular visa, lets travelers enter into their country of destination. The difference is that an e-Visa provides a convenient alternative to a traditional travel visa that is issued by a nation's embassy, consulate, mission, or at ports of entry. A nation's border officials can still grant or deny entry at your port with an E-visa just as they can with a standard visa.
An e-Visa is easy to apply for. Applicants do everything online, including entering their personal, passport, and travel information. They also pay for their e-Visa application online using a debit card or a major credit card. They then receive their approved e-Visa by email. Border officials at the country you wish to enter can then verify your e-Visa directly through their system. It is advisable, however, to carry a copy of your e-Visa, either as a printout or on your smartphone or tablet. This is a precaution in case of any system errors.
The information you need to provide when applying for an e-Visa varies depending on the country you are applying for. When you fill out your application, you might need to agree to specific processing data in Liechtenstein or other countries. If this happens, you must consent to be able to continue the application process. To agree, you would tick a box or push a button that indicates your consent.
